After his stellar 3-1 match finish against Loj in the SVO: Dawnbreak, Nightedge PAM Grand Finals, we chatted with Gengur about his mindset in the final moments leading up to his victory, and how it feels to be one step closer to the World Grand Prix!

SVO: For those of who don’t know, what can you tell us about yourself?

Gengur:  I am Gengur a competitive Shadowverse player who is currently on Team CpV. I played since the very beginning of Shadowverse and enjoyed the game ever since.

SVO: So let’s cut to the chase – tell us about what was going through your head in the Grand Finals. Were you nervous going into your match?

Gengur: A lot of going through my mind. I thought about almost everything. I didn’t want to lose. All of that made me extremely nervous. On broadcast I tried my best to look confident, thinking it would calm me down. Everything was on the line.

SVO: How did it feel when you realized you had beaten Loj 3-1?

Gengur: It made me realize what I had done to get there. It was a feeling of happiness and relief. All of that made me sweat from my eyes.

SVO: Do you have any plans for what you want to do with the $6,500 you’ve earned from winning?

Gengur: I want to be more involved in the community so a lot of that money is going into traveling to events. That is my main goal right now.

SVO: Now that you’ve earned a guaranteed spot at the Contenders Cup, what are you doing to prepare moving forward?

Gengur: I will continue to work harder than the rest of the Contenders.

SVO: Do you have any advice for players planning to follow in your footsteps by competing in SVO: Brigade of the Sky?

Gengur: Keep playing. No one gets better by just watching. Ask me for help please! I enjoy teaching and have been coaching since the very beginning of Shadowverse. Just send me a private message on Discord.

SVO: Lastly, do you have any shoutouts you’d like to make?

Gengur: Before the shoutouts, I would like to say that I will not be competing in SVO until Contenders. My morals would be broken if I did. However, my little brother will take my spot and hopefully win.

Shout out to Vetu for helping me the most with scrims and CpV for being a great team. Lastly, I want to thank everyone who supported me through all of it.
