Howdy Shadowverse players!
After a brief hiatus, I’m back baby! I know, I know! You all missed me so much that I just had to bring it back and hook you guys up with a return article! Throughout the course of 2018, it has been a wild ride! Shadowverse and Cygames have been all over the globe at different events from PAX East and Anime Expo to each of the offline competitive events! As Montreal is only a few days away, I wanted to talk to everyone about the importance of such an event and some of the players!
Why is Dreamhack Montreal Important?
Good question random internet reader! Dreamhack Montreal is quite possibly the most important offline event of the year for several reasons. Aside from the $10,000 prize pool and a slot at the Contenders Cup, Dreamhack Montreal is actually the final live open tournament for players to enter for this year! That means that aside from the upcoming online Wild Card tournament, this is one of the last tournaments to secure your spot in the Contenders Cup with.
Who are the players to watch out for?
The following are my picks for major threats in the event and my reasons people should be keeping an eye out of them. Don’t shoot me too much as this is just my opinion!
DIS Onionsheep: Onionsheep got second place in Tours France and won the last EURO season of SVO but moreover, he has been one of the most consistent players in Shadowverse constantly making top 8’s for as long as I can remember. He thinks through every single turn and applies his gameplans with very good precision and in my opinion, he is my top pick to go incredibly far in this tournament!
PG Zerofyne: If there was ever a player that I would call “Shadowverse’s Breakout player of the year”, it would be this guy! Zerofyne has performed incredibly well throughout multiple SVO seasons and got second place in Singapore. He is also an incredibly nice guy to boot! I know I will definitely be rooting for him and his comrade in arms Akamarured this weekend!
Echo FOX Cure Mango: Cure Mango is actually the very first SVO tournament winner and although he doesn’t play in a ton of events, when he does, he usually performs incredibly well. There are games I have watched of his and felt like he was just unstoppable. His good reads and incredible decision making make him one of if not the biggest threat in this tournament. As a native Canadian he will be playing on his home playing field.
Although these are my 3 players that I am looking out for, this tournament is actually stacked with really great players such as TS Crumsion, FOX Gengur, DIS Omega, CPV Fantasy and much more. To be fair, it is incredibly difficult to pick any one player to break out and take the tournament down. However, despite that, we could have a complete newcomer that we weren’t expecting come up and crush the event! I don’t know about you but I am definitely looking forward to seeing how the tournament will shake down come this weekend! Hope to catch you all in chat! See you there!
